Macomia is a city located in the Cabo Delgado Province in northern Mozambique. It is the seat of the eponymous Macomia District.

In May 10 2024, one day after SANDF elements withdrew from the area, Islamic State affiliated terrorists are carrying out a major attack in the city of Macomia. They blocked access from Awasse and Pemba. Chinavane (airfield area) and Nanga have been under fire since early morning (4:00 AM), while the town has been entirely occupied by ISCAP terrorists according to civilians who have now fled into nearby forested areas.[1]
