Lake Turna (Turkish: Turna Gölü); is a lake in the İpekyolu district of Van province. It is located at the eastern foot of Erek mountain.[1]

History

The lake was created for irrigation purposes, people in the time of Urartians. King of Urartu II. During the time of Rusa (685-645 BC), a dam lake was created by closing the front of a small stream with two embanks. During the Urartians, water channels were built in the mountain and the Van plain was watered. It was also used as drinking water.[2]
