Adrian Cortes Ugelvik (born September 21, 2001) is a professional footballer who plays as a centre back for 1. divisjon club Levanger. Born in Norway, he represents the Philippines at international level.

Career

Born in Norway, Ugelvik began his career with the youth team of Molde.

Molde

In 2017, Ugelvik was promoted to the second team of Molde.

Ugelvik was handed a professional contract and was promoted to the senior team of Molde.[1]

He made his senior debut for Molde in a 1–4 away win against Spjelkavik in the Norwegian Football Cup.[2]

Brattvåg

Ugelvik joined 2. divisjon club Brattvåg on a free transfer.[3][4][5] He made his debut for the club in a 2–3 home defeat against Aalesunds in the Norwegian Football Cup.[6]

Ugelvik scored his first goal for Brattvåg in a 2–3 away win against Senja in the 2. divisjon. He scored his second goal in a 2–0 home win against Alta.[7]

Levanger

In December 2022, after spending two seasons with Brattvåg, it was announced that Ugelvik have signed for Levanger on a free transfer.[8]

International career

Ugelvik was born in Norway to a Norwegian father and a Filipino mother making him eligible to play for either Norway or Philippines at international level.

Philippines

Ugelvik received a call up for the Philippines in the 2020 AFF Championship but eventually did not take part in the tournament due to injury.[9][10][11]

In May 2024, Ugelvik was included in the Philippines 28-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Vietnam and Indonesia.[12] He made his debut against the former on 6 June 2024 at the Mỹ Đình National Stadium. He played the full game as Vietnam won 3–2.[13] During their last match in the Asian qualifiers, where they played against Indonesia, Ugelvik was rushed to the hospital after colliding with Indonesia's goalkeeper Ernando Ari and falling face first. Philippines Head Coach Tom Saintfiet had hoped that the referee would make a call on what happened. "The goalkeeper, he touched the player (Ugelvik)..." said Coach Saintfiet. "I think the referee can whistle a penalty for that with five minutes in normal time to go. The referee didn't whistle. I can't change the referee's mind. I understand.... But these were moments when we could have come back in the game."
